| Come see how Hammond’s candy is made in their new facility. Our
entire group needs to be their to check in at 10:15. Our tour will begin

Indigo Mountain Nature Center Visit
|
|
| Indigo Mountain Nature Center is a sanctuary for captive born
wildlife nestled in the Colorado Rockies by Lake George (near Woodland
Park). It is a non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife education,
rescue and the study of animal behavior. If you are interested in
visiting the sanctuary, or attending a workshop, please let Lucy know
and she will arrange a date in the near future. |

DMNS - Engineer It!
|
|
What powers your imagination? Challenge your creativity and
ingenuity and explore the fun side of engineering.
Try your hand at designing and building boats, bridges, windmills, and
airplanes. Then test the performance of your creations in water tanks,
earthquake simulators, and wind tunnels. In addition, experiment with
gears and pulleys, operate a cargo crane, and learn more about engineers
in the real world. The RocketWorks lab, a unique Denver addition to the
traveling exhibition, allows you to design, build, decorate, and launch
your own rocket.

Chess Classes for All Abilities
|
|
| Learn to play chess, or improve your game, all ability levels will
be accommodated in these classes. Each class will involve specific
tutoring appropriate to the participants’ abilities plus lots of
opportunity to put new-found skills to use in fun drills and mini-games.
Basic rules, basic maneuvers, basic principles, intermediate maneuvers,
openings, famous players and championship games will all be covered
(depending on ability level, of course). |

Spanish Classes
|
|
Lucy Benson continues to provide the Spanish classes for a wide
variety of ages and abilities. The classes are held every Tuesday at the
Evergreen Library.
There is a fee of $10 per class per child (families with more than two
kids will just pay for 2 kids) and the schedule is as follows;
Class times (3 separate age/ability groups) are from 10am until 1pm,
every Tuesday. |

Martial Arts Classes
|
|
| Evergreen Martial Arts Academy offers a daytime Tae Kwon Do classes
for the convenience of homeschool families, every Wednesday from noon
until 1:30pm and Saturday from 11am until 12:30pm. Also, Tai Chi Chuan,
Aikido, Jujitsu and Judo programs have recently been established. For

A substantial discount is still offered to MAHS members for most of
the programs and there are numerous additional discounts for multiple
family members and multiple program participation.. There’s no
obligation for the first two classes, so give them a try! |

Fencing Demonstration and Introductory Class
|

In cooperation with the Evergreen Boy Scouts and the Denver Fencing
Center, the Evergreen Martial Arts Academy is hosting a 30-minute
fencing demonstration followed by a 1 1/2-hour introductory fencing
class for those who are interested in pursuing fencing. If there is
sufficient interest, then a second 1 1/2-hour class will be held
immediately after the first.
This is a great opportunity to explore fencing and perhaps establish a
regular fencing class here in Evergreen. Please contact Matt ASAP if you
are interested, since space is limited. |

| Terpsichore Studio in Bailey, is putting on a Christmas Benefit Show
to raise funds for The Park County Peace Center. The show will be held
on Friday 1st December at 6:00 p.m. Many homeschool youth in our

| The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra has two upcoming concerts: (1)
Saturday November 18 at 7:30 p.m., at the Cathedral of the Immaculate
Conception (Logan/Colfax): Gabrieli Music For Brass, Bach Cantata and
Gournod Mass at St Caecilia (with Choir) .(2) Friday December 15 at 7:30
p.m., at the KPOF Hall (1340 Sherman St): Bizet L'Arlesienne Suite and a
medley of Holiday Music. Heidi and Lucy Bauer both perform with DPO, and
can get discounted tickets for you in advance from Lucy Bauer.

1). Colorado Symphony (Denver Performing Arts Complex-Boettcher
Hall)
Messiah Sing-along Sunday 2:30 pm December 10
Sing along with Handel’s beloved Messiah (2 hours or so). Audience
members will be seated by SATB voice range, with areas reserved for
those who simply want to enjoy the performance or can’t sing (Shannon).
Seating is general admission ($20 adults/children, first-come,
first-serve for seating).

2). Holiday lights at Denver Zoo and Denver Botanic Gardens (starts
December 8)
We love these light shows...week days are best for non-crowds and the
most thrills of all can be had on zero or sub-zero nights when nobody
but Alaskans are around!! Want to freeze your whatsits off?? Go with us!
Want to stay relatively warm…..OK...we’ll go when its above freezing as
well.
Denver Zoo lights on from December 8– 31 $7adults/ $4 children open from
5-9pm every night.
Denver Botanic Gardens December 1-31?? Maybe into January...no info
available on web site yet, but likely to be the same as the Zoo.
