DMNS Visit
|
|
| The museum opens a new exhibit, GOLD. When was the last time YOU
were at the museum? The kids have been asking, so here's our
opportunity to go together.
Gold Exhibit
Extremely rare and prized above all other metals, gold has long been
a symbol of wealth and status. In this dazzling exhibition, which
contains more than 2,000 pounds of the "shiny stuff," walk into an
entire room covered in just three ounces of gold, see recovered sunken
treasure, and climb onto a scale that tells you your weight in gold.
Trace the history, properties, and origins of this highly coveted
substance in all its glorious forms, from coins to nuggets to jewelry to
ore. And see why civilizations since the dawn of time have sought this
precious metal, one that still hasn't lost its luster.

Colorado Ballet
Student Matinees
|
|
Coppelia - Friday February 22nd 11 a.m.
We start with "once upon a time" and end with "wow!"
A children’s tale, perhaps. But this is really a magical event for
everyone with an imagination and a funny bone. This classic ballet is
filled with magic and mayhem. Start with one eccentric toy-maker, throw
in a plan to bring a mechanical doll to life, and mix well with a
red-blooded young lover, a jealous fiancé and an array of mischievous
maidens. You end up with a wild mix of abracadabra, spooky adventure and
plenty of old-fashioned love. Don’t miss this enchanting tale and
playful choreography.
The Repertory Series- Friday March 14th 11 a.m.
One. Tu-tu. Three. Our repertory series is three-times as
spectacular as a single ballet. Three different works. One breathtaking
adventure. Colorado Ballet is extremely proud to present THE REPERTORY
SERIES, a collection of 3 innovative, contemporary works from leading
choreographers, featuring The Leaves Are Fading by Antony Tudor, …smile
with my heart by Lar Lubovitch, with Richard Rodgers music, including
“My Funny Valentine”, and a World Premiere by Complexions Contemporary
Ballet Artistic Director Dwight Rhoden. These productions are new to
Colorado Ballet and Denver, so don’t miss this opportunity to catch some
of the most refreshing dance around!
These performances are an excellent, inexpensive way to introduce kids
(and adults!) to the Arts at a reasonable time of day. If you want to go
to either or both matinees as part of a MAHS 'group' call me asap (this
week)and I'll order us a block of tickets, otherwise you can do it
independently if you download
the reservation form and email to
education@coloradoballet.org or fax to 303-861-7174. Tickets can
sell out so don't procrastinate too long if you wish to attend!
Performances are at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in the Performing
Arts Complex downtown Denver.
